How to Extend Your iPhone’s Battery While Traveling

We’ve all been there before: You charge your phone overnight for a full day of travel, but after snapping a million effortlessly cool pics for your Instagram photo dump and using maps to guide you to the nearest public toilet, you find that your battery is already dead at dinner, and you have no way of reading that pesky QR code menu. Sure, you could just be present, live in the moment, and handwrite your loved one a postcard. Or, you can try these battery-saving hacks to maximize those precious social media hours on the go. As it turns out, some of our seemingly harmless habits are doing slow, silent, deadly damage to those precious lithium-ion batteries. Stop charging to 100% If your palms start sweating when your battery drops below 90%, you need to chill. Maintaining a full charge is not the most efficient way to save battery on your iPhone. In fact, experts suggest letting your phone coast through the day between 20 and 80 percent full. That’s where it’s most comfortable, and will run most efficiently. So stop juicing it overnight, and instead go for shorter and more frequent bursts throughout the day. If you have iOS 13 and later, you’re in luck: With the Optimized Battery Charging feature, your iPhone will delay charging past 80 percent in certain situations. This can be turned on in Settings. Don’t let your phone die completely Lithium ion batteries become volatile when they drop down to low power, so you should avoid getting that pesky “low battery” warning too often. Every full discharge wears down your battery ever so slightly. Don’t overheat your battery Okay, this isn’t specifically a charging issue. But it’s still very important. You’ve probably noticed that your phone is annoyingly sluggish after it’s been sitting out in the sun. That’s because iPhone batteries really, really hate extreme temperatures, and have to work extra hard in high heat or cold. According to Apple, the “comfort zone” for iPhones is 62 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Bottom line: Your phone is basically a needy little computer baby that needs to be bundled up and cooled off on the regular. Don’t rely on your wireless charger too much Your Mophie backup battery case is a godsend when you’re out and about and need some extra juice to get home. But both your battery and the case itself emit heat during charging, which can do long term damage your device. To avoid overheating, try a portable power source, like this one from Anker. Take the case off while you charge While we’re on the subject, if your phone feels too hot when it’s plugged in, it’s possible your fancy schmancy case might be trapping in the heat that’s produced while charging. So do your phone a favor and take it off to save battery. When you’re running low, do some housekeeping We all know turning on “Low Power Mode” or “Airplane Mode” is the way to go when we see that battery icon turn red. But there are a few other practices you can make a habit of to save battery, such as lowering the screen brightness, turning off push notifications, and closing unnecessary apps. Store your backup phone to around 50% If you’re hanging onto your old phone as a backup for when you inevitably drop your new one into a toilet at a club in Berlin, make sure you stash it in a cool place, roughly half-charged. According to Apple, if you leave the battery completely depleted it will fall into what’s known as a “deep discharge state,” which apart from sounding like a nightmarish medical issue, will render it less capable of holding a charge in the future. Conversely, if you store it fully charged for an extended period, it may lose some capacity as well. Don’t use the wrong charger Your Apple-issued charger is designed to cut power when the battery hits 100%, but a lot of those cheapo unauthorized third-party USB cords are not, and may do some damage by excessively juicing the battery. 9 Ways to Repurpose Old Wall-Mounted Phone Jacks

Once a pinnacle for communication, the phone jack was found in homes everywhere. However, technology has changed and most people today don’t know what to do with it, or what purpose it once served. Arguably, they’re an eye sore and because they’re obsolete, they take up space on the wall but serve no practical use. Check out these 9 ideas for repurposing, or getting rid of the relic. 1. Remove the Phone Jack The first, possibly most obvious, way to get rid of the unstylish relic is to remove it from the wall and patch up the hole. It’s not creative but eliminates the eye soar and frees up a small space for another family photo. 2. Cover it with Important Information Rather than removing the phone jack, you can hide it by installing a cork or chalk message board, helping eliminate the eye sore and giving you a leg up on keeping track of your to-do lists. 3. Create Phone Jack Artwork You can cover the it with artwork, similar to the message board. Or you can incorporate it into the work, painting, or mod podge over it. 4. Replace with Storage Space Although the phone jack isn’t large, you will gain some space by getting rid of it. You can use the extra space to supplement with storage space. For instance, you can purchase stackable or decorative bins of all sizes and colors. 5. Create a Secret Space Removing the phone jack will create a tiny alcove to hide small things like important documents or jewelry. Moreover, you can install a shelf behind it in the wall, and then put it back in place so no one will ever know. 6. Install Something Else A blank or decorative outlet cover may also be a great alternative to the phone jack and can be hand-painted or customizable. Be Creative with Your Installation A phone jack is a similar size to a bottle opener, you can install it in place and add a touch of charm, and convenience, to your space. 8.  A New Light Switch in Place of the Phone Jack Some homes with older electrical systems also have outdated means of turning lights off and on. For instance, some have pull-strings but you can update those, adding electricity through an old phone jack, without having to cut a new hole. However, electrical work can be dangerous so unless you’re properly trained, it’s best to leave these home improvements to someone with more experience and expertise. 9. Functional and Decorative Phone Jack Source: Shutterstock Lastly, consider replacing, or repurposing them with a Hi-Jack Coverage System. The product covers old or outdated wall-mounted phone jacks and comes with a bracket and a separate shelf, key hook, and an integrated picture frame. Purportedly, installation only takes a minute and doesn’t require any tools. 15 Cancer Warning Signs People Ignore Until It’s Too Late….full detail in comment below👇👇

Cancer is a formidable disease, but early detection can significantly increase the chances of successful treatment. Unfortunately, many of the early warning signs of cancer are subtle and easily dismissed as harmless. In this article, we’ll explore 15 cancer warning signs that people often overlook until it’s too late. By being aware of these symptoms, you can take proactive steps to protect your health. 1. Changes in Stool: A Possible Digestive Tract Cancer Indicator If you notice changes in your stool, such as a difference in size, persistent diarrhea, or irregular bowel movements, it could be more than just a dietary issue. These changes are often an early sign of cancer in the digestive tract, especially when accompanied by ongoing abdominal discomfort. 2. Changes in Urination: A Sign of Prostate or Bladder Cancer If you find yourself needing to urinate more frequently than usual or experience discomfort during urination, it’s important to take note. These could be early signs of cancer affecting the prostate or bladder, and prompt consultation with a healthcare professional is advised. 3. Sores That Don’t Heal: A Warning for Skin or Oral Cancer Sores that do not heal, especially in the mouth, on the skin, or in the genital area, can be a sign of skin cancer, oral cancer, or even genital cancers. It’s crucial to seek medical advice if you notice persistent sores that do not improve. 4. Unexplained Bleeding: A Major Red Flag Blood in your stool, urine, or any unusual discharge is never a normal occurrence and can indicate various types of cancer, including colorectal, bladder, or cervical cancer. Consult your doctor immediately if you notice any form of unexplained bleeding. 5. Lumps: Not Just a Bump While many lumps are benign, any new or changing lump should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. Lumps are often associated with cancers like breast, testicular, or soft tissue cancers and should never be ignored. 6. Indigestion: More Than Just a Stomach Issue Indigestion is commonly misdiagnosed because it’s a frequent and often minor issue. However, persistent indigestion, particularly when accompanied by stomach pain or difficulty swallowing, can be an early sign of upper gastrointestinal cancers. 7. Changes in Freckles or Moles: Skin Cancer Warning Any noticeable change in the color, shape, or size of freckles or moles should be taken seriously. These changes can indicate melanoma, a dangerous form of skin cancer, and warrant immediate medical attention. 8. Unusual Hair Growth: A Subtle Sign Unusual hair growth can sometimes be a sign of cancer, although it’s often overlooked or attributed to other causes. If you notice new hair growth in unexpected places, it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional. 9. Skin Changes: A Sign You Shouldn’t Ignore Changes in skin color, such as redness, yellowing (jaundice), or darkening, can be signs of various cancers, including liver or pancreatic cancer. While not every skin change indicates cancer, it’s essential to get it checked out. 10. Persistent Discomfort: Listen to Your Body Constant pain, whether it’s a headache, backache, or any other chronic pain, could be a sign of cancer, particularly if it’s unexplained or doesn’t respond to treatment. Persistent discomfort should always be evaluated by a doctor. 11. Fever: Not Just a Cold Symptom While fever is commonly associated with infections, it can also be a sign of cancer, particularly cancers that affect the immune system like lymphoma. If you experience frequent, unexplained fevers, it’s important to investigate further. 12. Sudden Weight Loss: An Alarming Sign Losing a significant amount of weight without dieting or exercising is a common early sign of cancer, particularly cancers of the stomach, lung, or pancreas. If you’re shedding pounds without trying, it’s time to see your doctor. 13. Persistent Cough: More Than Just a Cold A cough that doesn’t go away, especially if it’s accompanied by a scratchy throat, could be a sign of respiratory cancers like lung or throat cancer. Don’t dismiss a chronic cough—get it checked out. 14. Swollen Lymph Nodes: A Hidden Danger Lymph nodes that are swollen, tender, or persistently enlarged may indicate an underlying issue, including cancers like lymphoma or leukemia. It’s important to consult a healthcare provider if you notice changes in your lymph nodes. 15. Fatigue: More Than Just Tiredness Feeling unusually tired all the time, even after adequate rest, could be a sign of cancer. Certain cancers cause blood loss or affect the body’s ability to produce energy, leading to chronic fatigue. If you’re constantly fatigued, it’s crucial to seek medical advice. These 15 symptoms are not definitive proof of cancer, but they are warning signs that should not be ignored. Early detection is key to successful treatment, so if you experience any of these symptoms, it’s essential to consult a healthcare professional as soon as possible. Remember, taking action early could save your life.

“What’s One Historical Fact That They Won’t Teach You In School?” (56 Answers)

If you start to delve into events, one can often find that certain things end up being covered or “simplified” to perhaps not make some folks uncomfortable. But history is history, it can be fascinating, cruel, dull and often a lot stranger than fiction. Someone asked “What’s one historical fact that they won’t teach you in school?” and people shared their examples, ranging from “I didn’t pay attention” to some things that are truly obscure. So get comfortable as you read through, upvote your favorites and be sure to share your own thoughts in the comments below. #1 The guys defending the Alamo were the bad guys. Texas was Mexico at the time. To attract settlers to the land, Mexico allowed American farmers to move there and bring their enslaved workers with them. Slavery was not something Mexico was crazy about and soon banned slavery in the entire country except for Texas. A few years later, they tried to ban it in Texas. That’s when the Texas Revolution started. The Texans were fighting to keep slavery, not for freedom from an oppressive government. Not everyone at the Alamo died. The enslaved workers were spared and are largely the reason we know what happened. If you visit the Alamo today (or at least when I did in 2022) most of the information is left out of the booklet and signage. It does mention the enslaved workers by name, but that’s about it. Fighting to preserve slavery isn’t the narrative they want to display today. I remember learning about the Alamo in school and slavery wasn’t mentioned. And then how absent it was from the actual site. #2 Treaties between Indigenous Tribes and America are still broken to this day! (My tribe was directly attacked in 2020) We still fight for the Earth and our place in this terribly poisoned and loveless society. #3 About 1/3 of the working cowboys in the Old West were black men. #4 The actual “pilgrims” were not the good guys in any New England history. Religious bigots to be honest. #5 How Hawaii came to be a part of the US. Basically, a bunch of white guys living on the islands didn’t like to be ruled by a monarchy of natives, so they grabbed some guns and started a revolt. When it was clear they weren’t going to win, they called US for help, and the US Government sent in the marines to occupy the islands and eventually annex them. It’s only recently that the government has finally admitted it was in the wrong to do so. #6 I didn’t know much about the Byzantine Empire and the Islamic Golden Age until I was in college. I really feel like a lot of history classes seem to gloss over the so-called Dark Ages. #7 Women needed husbands’ permission to have a credit card in their own name until mid 70s.

Dads Being Dads: 30 Posts And Memes That Sum Up Fatherhood, As Shared By This Instagram Account Interview

Oh, the joys of parenting. Some days are unimaginably chaotic, while others are full of joy, peace, and excitement. And sometimes, those days fit into one day filled with ups and downs. The only thing that is stable throughout is dads being dads. They are a different species of men – kind and gentle while strong and strict at the same time. No wonder that with such a mix in mind, we are presented with dad jokes and memes. These two mediums unite dads all around, and therefore, the Instagram account @viraldads was born. Here at Bored Panda, we are happy to present you with a collection of dad memes that will either make you giggle, leave you in awe, or make you cringe with embarrassment. So, Pandas, we invite you to scroll down. Don’t forget to comment and vote for your favorites. #1 In this new day and age, dads’ reputation deserves a shift in society’s perceptions, since men have become more involved in their children’s lives than ever before. And that should be celebrated, because children need loving dads who promote inner growth and strength in their kids. Though that doesn’t mean that difficulties will not appear even to the most affectionate parents. “Dads are easy targets, but we’re trying our best, and some of us actually love it! I just wanted to help showcase that in a fun and lighthearted way online and also be open/honest/relatable about the ups and downs I’ve faced along my own journey…”, Evan shared. The stigma of stay-at-home dad is still prevalent to this day and it only adds to gender role stereotypes. Nowadays, there are more and more dads who actively choose to stay home and take care of their kids while their spouse is going off to work. Men at home do chores, pack school lunches, and actively participate in their child’s life, which is contrary to society’s norms of fatherhood. “I’ve learned most men all face the same very similar challenges as they transition into the role of being a dad, but very few talk about it. I want to help break that stigma and help dudes feel less alone in their own journey,” shared Evan of his experiences. The era of the distant, only money-giving, and strict belt-holding dad is over, and it is time to accept it. Also, being an unemployed dad does not equal being a hopeless, unintelligent, childish deadbeat. Due to the lack of positive role models, these dads must feel doubtful and underappreciated. Therefore, Evan’s idea was to promote a healthy and positive outlook. In the end, he added: “I like to say, ‘tell dad jokes, don’t be a dad joke.’”
