“Why do you care who’s in the cast?”: Whoopi Goldberg tore into Elliot Page’s critics over his gender identity

Elliot Page barely has a supporting role in ‘The Odyssey,’ Christopher Nolan’s new film. He plays Sinon, Odysseus’s cousin.

But that did not stop commentators like Ben Shapiro and even Elon Musk from turning him into a target of mockery, questioning his voice, his physique, and even making up rumors about which character he was playing.

Whoopi Goldberg did not stay silent. On July 21, during an episode of ‘The View,’ she responded bluntly:
“If you don’t want to see it, then don’t go see it… Why do you care who’s in the cast?” 🎤

Her co-hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sara Haines joined the defense.

Lupita Nyong’o was also the target of racist attacks for playing Helen of Troy.

But while critics shouted on social media, the film grossed more than 300 million dollars and gave Nolan the best opening of his career. The box office spoke louder than hate.
